Established2020
Xingjian College, established in 2020, is responsible for talent cultivation in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics, including the engineering integration track. Adhering to Tsinghua University's educational goal, Xingjian College relies on a carefully constructed education system to foster innovative thinking, expand growth space, and empower students to strive for excellence. Focusing on key areas such as intelligent technology, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing, Xingjian College aims to cultivate leading talents with a broad perspective, solid foundation and interdisciplinary knowledge.
In 2020, the Tsien Excellence in Education Program of Tsinghua University joined Xingjian College. Established in 2009, its mission is to discover and cultivate innovative talents who aspire to change the world and benefit humanity through science and technology.
In 2021, Tsinghua University, relying on Xingjian College, established the Future Technology Institute, focusing on interdisciplinary future technology and innovative engineering frontiers. It aims to explore a new paradigm for cultivating leading talents in future technology and innovation in the new era.
Xingjian College inspires students to find suitable research directions and initiates high-quality and long-term integration of undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Under the guidance of high-caliber teachers, students can tailor their individualized plans unrestricted by disciplinary boundaries, enjoying a space for independent learning and free exploration. About 100 senior professors and academicians from the fields of science, engineering, humanity, and management are invited to serve as tutors for freshmen, sophomore, and juniors. Tutors will assist students in cultivating lofty ideals, fostering academic interests, and shaping personal qualities. Each tutor will guide no more than 5 students. We encourage tutors to provide personalized guidance for students by actively constructing bridges of communication within the college and shorten the distance between students and teachers through regular events such as tutor meetings, dean’s afternoon tea, X-salons, and so on. Moreover, we advocate an environment that emphasizes focus in learning and enjoyment in research.
